The Cheltenham Literaure Festival this year focused on family, and how it shapes who we are and how we live, read and write. Why have particular families become dynasties shaping entire nations? How have writers drawn on their family experiences and those of others?
The festival lasted for 10 days with more than 450 writers and over 350 events.
This was my first year and I stayed for the first weekend. I was fortunate enough to watch and meet Frank Skinner, Bruce Parry, Ray Mears and Sir Roger Moore. I also attended one of the highlights of the festival - The Times Debate with Kate Adie, Roy Hattersley, Michael Gove, Andrew Marr, Ann Widdecombe & Libby Purves.
The subject of the debate - 'Did we ever have it so good, and have we really got it so bad?'
Well with recent events, there was every chance the debate may have lasted just minutes!
Thankfully this was not the case and it was a lively and intelligent debate which at times was hard for the Chair of the debate - Robert Peston to control!
My experience of the festival was fantastic and I fully intend to attend the whole event next year. I whole-heartedly recommend everyone to do the same.

If you have any photos or stories to share on the festival then please feel free to post here!
